چکیده
Background: Early identification of arterial stiffness in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients before the manifestation atherosclerosis would be clinically beneficial. Our study aimed to explore correlation lipid profiles and ratios with stiffness, construct a predictive model for T2DM using those parameters. Methods: One hundred eighty-four adult outpatient clinic at Dr. Soetomo general academic hospital were enrolled this cross-sectional 2015 2019. Sociodemographic, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), profiles, brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV) data collected from all subjects. The subjects divided into group (ba-PWV > 18 m/sec) without ≤ m/sec). A test was used evaluate association, receiver operator characteristics (ROC) curves analysis determine cut-off value, sensitivity, specificity. risk calculated bivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: The had higher profiles: total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low-density (LDL-C), ratios. significant positive found between TC, TG, LDL-C, ba-PWV. negative HDL-C All ratio parameters can as predictors especially non-HDL-C value: 150 mg/dL (sensitivity 96.8% specificity 52.9%) TG/HDL-C 4.51 81.0% 74.2%). Elevated displayed (OR: 12.293 16.312; p < 0.05) having compared other ratios. Conclusions: Lipid ratios, non-HDL-C, are potential biochemical markers patients.

Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity is useful for evaluation of complications in type 2 diabetic patients.
Pulse wave velocity (PWV) is useful for the evaluation of aortic stiffness. The brachial-ankle PWV (baPWV) and carotid PWV (from heart to carotid) were compared to study the relation of these two types of PWVs to diabetic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The baPWV was determined by oscillometrically measuring the pulse volume record at the upper arm and ankles. The carot...
متن کاملCorrelation between Proximal Abdominal Aortic Stiffness Measured by Ultrasound and Brachial-Ankle Pulse Wave Velocity
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The proximal portion of the abdominal aorta (AA) is characterized by minimal arteriosclerosis compared with other aortic segments. To assess the clinical usefulness of this characteristic, the correlation between ultrasonographically measured proximal AA stiffness and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) was examined. SUBJECTS AND METHODS 285 subjects were anal...
متن کاملAssociation between silent brain infarct and arterial stiffness indicated by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this hospital-based cohort study was to clarify the independent association between silent brain infarct (SBI) and arterial stiffness indicated by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) including the cutoff value for SBI. METHODS We studied 240 consecutive patients (mean age 69 years) with no history of stroke. We assessed the presence of SBI, white matter hyperintens...
متن کاملElevated arterial stiffness evaluated by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity is deleterious for the prognosis of patients with heart failure.
BACKGROUND Arterial stiffness is used as an index of arteriosclerosis. The goal of this study was to clarify whether increased arterial stiffness, evaluated by measuring the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), is a risk factor for the prognosis of heart failure (HF) patients. METHODS AND RESULTS After examination of the baPWV, as well as the levels of neurohumoral factors, the 72 enro...
متن کاملBrachial-ankle pulse wave velocity as a predictor of mortality in elderly Chinese.
Pulse wave velocity (PWV) is a measure of arterial stiffness and predicts cardiovascular events and mortality in the general population and various patient populations. In the present study, we investigated the predictive value of brachial-ankle PWV for mortality in an elderly Chinese population. Our study subjects were older (≥60 years) persons living in a suburban town of Shanghai. We measure...
